About
I work for the Institute of Archaeologists as Standards Promotions Manager, covering the communications and recruitment area of the Institute's work. I come from a background of commercial and academic institutions, having worked at the interface between the two sectors at the University of Birmingham for 7 years. I am extremely interested in the professionalisation of archaeology, and the relationship between different sectors working with the historic environment.
In my spare time I am a Viking specialist working on artefacts from the North Atlantic and thinking about what objects can tell us about migration, identity and economy in the medieval period. I am also keen on upland landscapes and their utilisation in the medieval period, and am co-directing excavations of a medieval longhouse in Cumbria.
